About Helen
From childhood, I’ve been drawn to the beauty and diversity of wildlife—raising tadpoles, locusts, silkworms, and ants, surrounded by pets of all kinds. After moving to Northern NSW in 1980, I explored creative mediums like photography, batik, and lead lighting. Horses are a lifelong passion—I’ve owned four and enjoyed unforgettable rides in Montana (USA), the Chyulu Hills of Kenya, and Jinja in Uganda (Africa).
In my 60s, I discovered painting, and it became a transformative joy. I focus on realistic interpretations of animals—from the tiniest insect to the mightiest buffalo—capturing their unique spirit and presence.
Previously the Artist-in-Residence at Murwillumbah Main Street Art Gallery (now being repurposed), I’m now based at M|Arts Precinct, Studio 8, 1 Brisbane Street, Murwillumbah, NSW. With my workspace always ready, I paint daily, immersed in the fascinating world of wildlife art.
