In 2002, the Year of the Outback, I seized a unique opportunity to join a re-enactment of droving the Birdsville Track, from Birdsville, Queensland, to Maree, New South Wales. This incredible adventure was made unforgettable by the head drover, Mr Stan Douglas whose humor, wisdom, and skill brought the experience to life. Riding alongside him, I admired his quiet mastery in managing the cattle without panic or drama. His warmth and expertise made me feel truly welcome, turning this journey into an extraordinary and inspiring memory I will cherish forever.

Meeting this cherub in Uganda in 2012 and staying with her family for two months remains a cherished memory. Her family warmly adopted me, making me feel completely at home. Uganda, truly the Pearl of Africa, radiates beauty, and this little girl epitomized that spirit. Now 16 years old, she has grown into a stunning young woman and a loving big sister to her siblings. This experience left an indelible mark on my heart, filled with warmth, connection, and the joy of witnessing her journey.​ I remain in contact with this charming family and chat every couple of months.

This fella needs no introduction! I created this painting as a surprise 70th birthday gift for a dear friend who is absolutely nuts about Elvis. Capturing the King’s iconic charm and charisma was a joy, knowing how much it would mean to her. Her ecstatic reaction when she received her own personal portrait of Elvis made this project truly special and unforgettable.​

This man’s face embodies history, telling a story of resilience and strength. His weathered and scarred visage holds a unique beauty that deeply moves me. His elderly years reflect a lifetime of wisdom and hardship, shaped by the challenges of being an Aboriginal Australian born in a time of profound change and adversity. Through this portrait, I aim to honor and respect his life and legacy, celebrating the dignity and depth etched into every line of his face.

When my friend declared she just wasn’t doing Christmas in 2023, I knew I had to bring some festive cheer her way. I thought of the perfect personality to brighten her season, crafting a gift that captured our shared sense of humor. The result was a lighthearted and memorable surprise that we both could laugh about—a unique way to make her holiday season unforgettable, even on her own terms.

This intriguing character is the brainchild of Andrew Baker, created in response to the question of what humans might look like in the future. While opinions vary—some find it unsettling, while others, like me, are captivated by its concept—I find it endlessly fascinating. Exploring the blend of imagination and speculation in this design was a creative joy.
